Download PDFField programmable Gate Arrays are extensively used in the field of Industrial Automation especially in Speed control of BLDC motor for its hardware design flexibility. This paper discusses the digital Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control implemented in FPGA for a BLDC drive in motoring mode of operation. The design and simulation of closed loop control system using PID algorithm is done on Xilinx Spartan 3E FPGA kit. The system controls the speed of three phase BLDC by using feedback from hall sensors. Simulations are done using VHDL with Modelsim software.
